Bates Dairies, is a lovely well maintain pool of approximately 10 meters in length. At this venue, we start the children from almost 4 years old and these younger children enjoy playing on the shallow steps. Favourite activities include, dipping in the water to retrieve sinkers from the pool bottom and filling up buckets with watering cans. In time, the children are soon ‘doggy paddling’ 5 meters unassisted with ease.
As children gain in confidence they progress through the ASA National Plan. At Stage 5 of the National Plan we start to introduce ASA survival skills at this venue.
Owing to a depth of 2 meters at Bates Dairies, the deep water allows swimmers access to the ASA survival awards. Aquatic skills, such as treading water, surface dives including picking up brick and sitting dives starting poolside can be successfully achieved at this venue. This added dimension creates endless scope, for broadening the range of swimming skills delivered to the children.
